Yes to Masada. I haven’t yet heard the electric Masada. I did pick up the Masada String Trio… It’s incredible…

And yes there are a lot of klezmer sounds in his music, but I just think it’s Judaism, so than any genre, per se.

Man, Zorn inspires me on a daily basis.

I think blogging is a great step. Obviously, it has its ups and downs: Its downs being that technically we’re not all in an enclosed network, and apparently we’re all subject to comments regarding Asian pornography. The up(s), however, is that we’re also exposed to an outside POV, which can be extremely helpful in keeping discussions live. The nice thing is that with technology, ’sky is the limit’. Maybe one day in the near future, English 213 will hold its exam review sessions via live video chat. I think more teachers should be encouraged to integrate technology with the curriculum, instead of having it be a ‘brand new experiment.’

The tech stuff is really interesting to me (I still hand-code when I make webpages), but I’m afraid that if this conversation gets all hung up on that, we’ll be passed by. Philosophically, how do you see the classroom changing and incorporating whatever technology we can get going at school?

It’s all about how CSS elements are rendered, and IE (even version 7) sucks at it. Even Safari has its down points.

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of Firefox (mostly because Safari tends to make my computer do everything it can to make me angry). Flock looks great, too, but I haven't played around with it yet. Any browser, IMHO, that doesn't make using Web 2.0 apps easy probably won't, or shouldn't, be around for too much longer. All signs point to us as a society moving toward more of a social/sharing model as far as communication goes.

I think revolutionizing education in schools, especially this one, should include installing Firefox on all the school computers….just a thought.

It’s something you just have to keep poking at.

Right. And for me, the poking, or the struggle, or the working-it-all-out, is a huge amount of fun. If it weren’t, I’d still be writing software manuals in the Massachusetts hinterlands.
